A new 395-tonne transformer has been delivered to a substation in Schwandorf

9 月 09, 2022

At 395 tonnes, the transformer is not only notably large but, according to TenneT, is also exceptional due to its performance: an output of 650 megavolt amperes. It could theoretically supply around one million households. For the Ostbayernring, the new transformer will function as a compound dome transformer.

As part of the replacement construction of the Ostbayernring, the TenneT network is being converted to 380,000 volts between the Redwitz substations in the Lichtenfels district and Schwandorf. In addition, 220,000-volt connections from Schwandorf will supply Regensburg and the Nuremberg region in the future.

The heavy-duty transporter made its way to the waste-to-energy plant in Schwandorf. The transporter needed around two hours for the five km journey.
